Wesel: Guide

(Hansestadt) Wesel är en stad i den tyska delstaten Nordrhein-Westfalen belägen vid floden Rhen ca 25 km norr om Duisburg. Staden har en yta av 122,54 km² och ca 64 418 invånare (2005-06-30).

En kraftig artilleribeskjutning och flygbombning pågick 16 februari|16, 17 februari|17 och 19 februari 1945. 23 mars 1945 besköts staden inför övergången av Rhen av ca 3 000 artilleripjäser. Man beräknar att 98% av staden förstördes. Planering av återuppbyggandet av staden startade 1946.

De tyska motorvägarna (Autobahn) A3 (motorväg, Tyskland)|A 3 och A57 (motorväg, Tyskland)|A 57 är nära tillgängliga.

Vattenvägar

Förutom Rhen är även Wesel-Datteln-Kanal trafikerbar med fartyg och i staden finns två hamnanläggningar.
