Neapel, Napoli. Neapel har ca. 1 miljon invånare och ligger nära den berömda vulkanen Vesuvius.
Fram till Italiens Italiens historia#Italiens enande|enande på 1800-talet var Neapel ett självständigt kungadöme, som sträckte sig över södra delen av landet (se Kungariket Neapel).

Mat och dryck
Neapel är av traditionen pizzans hemstad. Speciellt pizza margherita, med mozzarella, tomat och basilika, som representerar italienska flaggans färger i rött, vitt och grönt. Pizzan fick sitt namn när den serverades till Drottning Margherita av Savojen under ett besök i staden.
Sport
SSC Napoli, idag Napoli Soccer, firade under 1980-talet stora framgångar under Diego Maradonas tid i klubben. Klubben blev italienska mästare två gånger, vilket bröt den annars kompakta norditalienska dominansen i Serie A. 1989 blev man UEFA-cupmästare. Neapel har ett flertal gånger arrangerat landskamper. Idag spelar Napoli Soccer i Serie B men har en mycket stor popularitet i hemstaden.
