Adelaide, huvudstad i Sydaustralien, är en stad med ungefär en miljon invånare.
Avståndet till Sydney är 140 mil. Staden grundades 1836 av nybyggare. Adelaide har ett behagligt klimat med temperaturer upp till 30 grader på sommaren och 15 grader på vintern. Sevärdheter är bland annat den botaniska trädgården och äldre bosättningar. Det populäraste utflyktsmålet från Adelaide är Kangaroo Island, Australiens tredje största ö, där det finns ett unikt djur- och fågelliv.
Adelaide är den stad där sir Howard Florey föddes, nobelpristagaren i medicin 1945. Även musikgruppen AC/DC kommer ifrån denna stad.
